A Recommendation: Two Podcasts from Mike Bennett

One of the joys of joining the gang of authors who podcast their work is discovering writers whose books you normally would not be able to find in the local book shop. A great find for me has been the stories of Mike Bennett who I first stumbled upon via his podcast for One Among the Sleepless. It’s a very gritty, yet quite funny book and Mike’s reading of it instantly grabs you.

Mike has just launched his new audiobook podcast, Hall of Mirrors, a short story collection featuring tales of horror, the grotesque and people in ‘unusual’ circumstances.’ If you were a fan of “Taking the Happy Bus On Home” or “On Time” from my podcast for The Love Book, then you’ll really dig Mike’s work.

The Love Book Hits the iTunes 100

I’m happy to say that The Love Book, my new short story collection, cracked the iTunes Top 100 Literature Podcasts list this week. It jumped up to #76 as of Tuesday, October 2nd (click on the image to enlarge the listing).

It’s great news and nice to see that more and more people are discovering the audiobook podcast. If you haven’t given it a listen yet, here is what a few readers have already said about the collection:

Meet the Author/Second Life Appearance Video and Wrap-up

Once again, I had a blast appearing on the Meet the Authors show in Second Life. Adele Ward (aka Jilly Kidd) and I had a great Q&A about short stories, influences, and my writing style. I read excerpts from “Taking the Happy Bus on Home” and “The Fabulous Omar,” both of which are part of my new collection of stories, The Love Book. Not only could the people who showed up enjoy the event, but it was broadcast throughout Second Life by SLCN.
